Nutrition can be hard and complicated.

Eat fats, don’t eat fats.  Eat carbs, don’t eat carbs. Drink warm water, or drink cold water. Fast or eat 5-6 x /day……….. The list can honestly go on and on.

One of the main reasons there is so much cloudiness when it comes to nutrition is because everyone has different needs. What works for one person might not work for another person. However, here are 3 things that will help with WEIGHT LOSS for everyone!

Plan Dinners

This can be one of the easiest things to do! We have all been there. Sitting around at 5 pm wondering what we are going to make for dinner, and before we know it, it is 7 PM and we are microwaving whatever is quickest. This usually leaves us eating processed foods that are NOT helpful for our goals. If we can plan a meal ahead then we can prepare the night before or even know exactly what we need to do when we get home!

Another perk of planning your meals is that you can plan to have left overs for lunch the next day! This eliminates having to make another meal the next day! Win- Win.

Have a Glass of water before your meal

One of the biggest issues with eating for most people is portion sizes. By the time someone gets around to eating they are usually “starving”, so they ram as much food in their mouth as they can. The problem with this is that is actually takes your stomach 10-20 minutes to tell your brain that it is full…..leading to over eating.

One way to prevent over eating is obviously to eat more times in a day and eat right when you are hungry, but if you’ve gone too long, then try simply drinking a glass of water before you eat. The glass of water will actually help prevent over eating by occupying space in your stomach before you eat!

Have a healthy snack ready to go

Cravings…. yup, they happen ALL the time. If you are like me, then your cravings might not be the best, and might take you further from your goals. If that is the case then one of the best things to do is to have another healthy snack READY to go. If you have fruit cut up in the fridge, and that is EASIER then going out to get your favorite ice cream, then you are much more likely to make that healthy choice. If you have nothing ready to go, and the ice cream is easily accessible, then you can imagine what is likely to be consumed. Limit your opportunities to give in to those cravings and you are less likely to do it. Increase your opportunities to make good choices and you are MORE likely to give in to those!

Start with these 3 simple tips and you will be off to a good start.
